Recording Engineer · DJ / Producer · A&R
Jake Fein is a Brooklyn-based music technologist, recording engineer, and DJ/producer with roots in classical, jazz, rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. Trained as a drummer, guitarist, and bandleader from an early age, and recognized as the top drummer in the nation at a national high school jazz competition, Jake developed a strong musical foundation before relocating to New York to study Music Technology at NYU Steinhardt.
In New York, Jake gained significant experience across the industry, engineering sessions for 10k Projects, Sony Music Publishing, APG, and others at Engine Room Audio, one of NYC's premier recording facilities. He also completed an apprenticeship under Grammy-winning musician and producer Sidney Mills at Mercy Sound Studios. His work spans both sides of the glass, with a focus on artist development, session workflow, and the creative process.
While jazz is where he started, Jake's production and DJ work lives firmly in pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. As an active DJ and promoter in the NYC club scene, he has worked with various hospitality groups including Rose Gold Presents and W Hotels performing at New York Fashion Week events, Somewhere Nowhere, and other popular venues while road-testing original productions and staying close to what moves audiences in real time.
The combination of classical training and major label session experience, along with his working knowledge of contemporary club and streaming culture shapes Jake's perspective on music that is both technical and instinctive, and directly oriented toward artist development and A&R.
